Pepper flowers falling from a container plant Bed & Balcony · Care observation sheet · 2026-10-21 For an established sweet pepper in a container. This checklist does not identify a pest or explain every cause of poor fruit set. OBSERVATIONS Date and branch photographed: ____________________________________________________________ Open flowers and tiny fruits counted: ____________________________________________________________ Day and night heat observations: ____________________________________________________________ Root-zone moisture before watering: ____________________________________________________________ Shade or watering change and time: ____________________________________________________________ Next visit: flowers retained and new fruit: ____________________________________________________________ CHECKS If flowers fall during unusually hot days and warm nights: Record the heat and afternoon exposure. Consider a position with late afternoon shade while retaining the plant's light needs. If the potting mix has dried between visits: Check root-zone moisture before watering. Aim for a more even supply, then record the next inspection instead of using a fixed daily volume. If flowers fall alongside spots, distorted growth or stem damage: Photograph those separate signs. Seek local identification if they persist; do not assume the heat explanation covers them. ACTION CHECKLIST [ ] 1. Count a small group of flowers Choose one accessible branch. Note its open flowers and tiny fruits, with a dated photo, so the next count refers to the same part of the plant. [ ] 2. Choose one condition to change Write down the observation that supports your choice. Note any watering or move into afternoon shade, including its time. [ ] 3. Check the branch support Pepper branches can become brittle. Check that the cage or short support holds the plant without pulling a fruit-bearing branch. NEXT CHECK On the next visit, compare the marked branch, root moisture and conditions. Record whether new flowers remain or new fruits appear; leave the cause unresolved if the pattern is unclear.
